4990 sq m (53,709 sq ft) of restaurant, bar and lifestyle accommodation, small office suites and 42 apartments in the heart of Cardiff City Centre.
Project
The Old Brewery Quarter, Cardiff
The Old Brewery Quarter was, until 1999, the head office and main brewery of S A Brain & Company Limited, Wales' largest independent brewer. This important City Centre site has now been transformed into an exciting mix of restaurants, bars and lifestyle shopping, offices and loft style apartments. The retention of many historical and cultural features, including the original brewery vaults, together with innovative, modern design provides a striking new open air café quarter. On the upper levels there are 42 new one, two and three bedroom contemporary apartments and penthouses, many with their own balconies overlooking the main piazza, offering the ultimate in urban living.

The Old Brewery Quarter was a joint development with Mansford Holdings PLC and S A Brain & Company Limited. Nearly 50% of the restaurant and retail space was pre-let before construction commenced and the scheme involves all aspects of urban mixed-use development, including the pedestrianisation of Caroline Street and the retention of a number of listed buildings.
In 2004 the development received a special accolade in the Welsh Housing Design awards.
In 2005 it was voted 'Best Mixed-Use Regeneration Project' in the Regeneration Awards and 'Best Leisure Regeneration Project' in the Retail & Leisure Property Awards.
"The Old Brewery Quarter is going from strength to strength as one of Wales' leading leisure destinations. It's become a catalyst for the regeneration of a significant area of Cardiff."
