Countryside Properties and joint venture partners Neptune Developments Ltd are developing the £120 million 'Mann Island' in Liverpool City Centre. The pivotal site rests between the Pier Head and the Albert Dock which will become a vibrant waterfront destination comprising dockside cafés and restaurants, shops, public spaces, a new exhibition venue, 376 apartments and 140,000 sq ft of high quality commercial office space which has been pre-let to Merseytravel.
The visually striking design, by award winning architects Broadway Malyan, has been conceived to frame and preserve key views of The Three Graces, whilst the black granite surfaces of the triangular apartment buildings subtly mirror the shades and textures of the dock waters. Mann Island offers stunning views of both the city and River Mersey.
The development's key aim is to create a new place for people. It will enliven and reclaim the site of former private business premises and reconnect the City Centre to The Pier Head and the new Museum of Liverpool.
Notable features of the homes will include roofscapes with terraces and sheltered residential courtyards. Work on the scheme commenced in autumn 2007 and it is due for completion in Spring 2012.
